It's true! I've been searching out ways to be more frugal and found that it is mostly a mindset. That if you just look for ways to save a little here and a little there it will add up over time. Think about it-if I saved $2.00 every week for a year that would be $104.00. Now if you find a way to save $2.00 a week on say three different grocery items you would triple that. It isn't a great savings but it adds up over time. So of course I've been trying to find ways to do just that. Here are a few that I have found. Check the adds, plan a menu and make a list (stick to it). I'm also going to try buying things on sale or in season and preserving them - that is why I'm going to try out a solar food dryer. Not sure that I'm up to canning but that is an other way to do that. Of course if you can grow your own food that is even better and a lot of fun. Freezing would be another, mine freezer space is limited. However I do sometimes get the family packs of meat and split them into meal portions and freeze - a big $$ saver for me.
Also I'm trying to make my own shampoo, laundry soap and a few things like that as well and while I'm doing it to be more healthy and natural one of the side benefits is that it saves money too. =)
But it is not just money that I want to talk about here. For years I have struggled to add exercize to my routine and while I would do good for a short time...well the cronic fatigue would always interfer and eventually it would fizzle down to nothing. So inspired by a couple of articles I read about adding small bits of exercise to everyday things that you do, well at last a little success. As I put on a cup of tea to brew one morning ( I have a single cup brewer ) I realised that it takes about 3 or 4 minutes to brew and a minute or so to steep. So instead of leaving and doing something else I now stand in the kitchen and do small stretches and exercises while my tea brews. Since I drink more than one cup - I get at least 10 minutes in and while it is not vigerous it is consistant. I'm not loosing weight but I'm getting stronger and feel better and that can only be good! Now, I just need a couple of other ways and I will be well on my way!!
The best tool we have is our mind - use it - look around at your everyday life and think of ways that you can save a $ or do a minute of exercise or what ever it is that you need for your own life. Don't get discouraged, keep trying, eventually you will find the way!
